Our most recent FoodFit Bennington program ended this week with what has to be one of the most fun final exams in the world: participants entered the cooking lab to find a bounty of fresh vegetables, fruit, grains, protein sources, as well as herbs and spices arranged on a large table. They then broke into small groups of two and three to plan and prepare a feast fit for royalty. While the food was cooking, participants took a brisk walk together, coming back 15 minutes later to a delectable feast. The meal was served family style and participants gathered around a large table to share in its delight.
FoodFit Bennington is a program that is designed to bring people together to set goals, learn skills and make measurable changes in overall health and fitness, with a focus on nutrition and exercise. Over the course of 12 weeks, participants are immersed in cooking, nutrition knowledge, physical activity, and community. Our goal is to eat more fruits and veggies and whole grains, while making small changes in our physical activity level.
